Developing A New Channel Management Program
When looking at developing new channel marketing projects or even implementing a channel management system on an already established system, there are several things you should know that will help it to remain effective and beneficial. First, you want to start with relevant baseline data such as channel demographics, annual co-op spend information, use of manufacturer provided tools by partners, etc. there are several ways to get this information from potential or existing partners.
The purpose of it, however, is to understand the types of programs have gotten what types of results. This will help you to develop a starting point in your own channel management system and where to start with the different partners. From there, you will want to begin working with your channel partners and begin communicating, finding out what they like, don't like, would like to see done or changed, etc. their feedback will give you initial goal and objective guidelines in the establishment of your channel marketing project.
Once you gain a foundational understanding of where you want to take your channel marketing project, you can begin to look into integrating several different programs, as it might be more beneficial for you. This makes partner communication even more important, however, so do not overlook your partners. There are many ways to get useful information out of them, and to also gain their desire to involve themselves in a certain channel management program.
